Beaudoin Memorial and Picnic

In mid-July (or right around the last time I posted - whoops!) the Beaudoin family gathered at Grandpa's farm for our annual summer reunion. This year it was more difficult as we also remembered Grandma with a monument made to hold her ashes down in the woods. Once the men got things organized, it was actually really beautiful. We watched them place the ashes inside, seal the monument, and set it on the ground with the tractor. Uncle Bill said a prayer for Grandma as we placed flowers around the monument. We listened to a song, then shared a few thoughts and laughs through our tears. Even though it will be two years after this Thanksgiving, it's still hard not having her here with us, and the memorial made it seem like it was just yesterday. Just goes to show how profoundly those who touch our lives always remain in our hearts.

We had a beautiful day for the picnic, if slightly cool, but the sky stayed clear for us and we even had a fire that night. Grandpa really seemed to enjoy himself this year, joking around and playing cards with the adults and laughing as he watched his great grandchildren play. Now that our family is growing as the second generation raises families of their own, it is rare for all of us to be together at the same time. This is a tradition that I hope will continue for many, many years to come.

Jackson was pretty mesmerized with the bubbles

Enjoying a meal together.

Grandma and Papa kept Jackson (and themselves) entertained with a water bottle, while Brea continued to blow bubbles all by herself.

The great grandkids had an awesome time playing together. Jackson, Molly, Hayden, and Adrian.

Aunt Mickey bribed Jackson to sit with her by offering chocolate cake!!! A good bargain in my book. :)

Jackson trying his hand at croquet, our favorite game to play at the farm.

Although he swears he'll never have kids of his own, Andrew's always the first one to get in there and help them out, and he usually ends up playing right along with them.

"How the heck does this thing work, anyway? "
