I finally did it! Time to toot my own horn! On Friday night Curt and I went to Brainerd while we left Jackson with the neighbors! Mommy was away from her baby for 4.5 hours, and I didn't even cry!!! I consider it a major success. :) I was surprised at how easy it was for me. I thought I'd be a total basketcase. The hardest part was the last half hour at home, just waiting to go give him away. Of course I was thinking about him the whole time and I missed him terribly, but I was able to function as a regular adult while Jackson was away from me! Of course, it was probably easier since I was with Curt rather than being alone, but I figure I'll be around people all day at work so what's the difference?! I am very proud of myself and am ready to try again - but not until next weekend. :)
On a side note, while we were in Brainerd we saw the movie 21. It was excellent! Have you heard of it? It's based on a book, a true story of a college kid who needs to pay for Harvard and learns to count cards in Vegas to do so. Kevin Spacey and Lawrence Fishburne were the only two actors I knew; both were very good. It was fun, exciting, and fast-paced with a few twists and turns and we definitely recommend it.

Small Wonder
At only about seven weeks old (my goodness!), there are so many moments in the day when we stop to marvel at something our son has done. Yesterday Jackson was in absolute awe while looking at his reflection for a good five minutes (thanks, Great Auntie Sheila - what a neat gift!). He was cooing, kicking, and flailing those arms away! Just a few moments ago while we lay on the floor looking into it he was whimpering and fussing, and I swear he was checking the mirror to see if the baby in there did the same things he was doing! Too cute. His head, arms, and legs are growing stronger all the time, and he is beginning to push off my chest or legs when I hold him if he needs a better look at something. He is just beginning to look at his hands - he only does it for a couple seconds but he looks like he's really thinking about it, and one of these days he'll really be observing them as he discovers that they're attached to his body. Imagine: we were all that little once. Easy to forget, isn't it?
Watching him grow is a constant reminder of God's miracles, the simple pleasures in life and all our blessings; the things we should not take for granted. I know these proud parental moments will only increase over time as our son brings more and more joy into our lives. Take the time to tell your parents/children how much you love them today.

Our First Family Walk
What a beautiful evening it is up here! We went for our first walk as a family tonight. Daddy carried Jackson in the Baby Bjorn for the first time and he really liked having him so close while we walked. Curt hurt his foot while running the other night - first run in a really long time - so it was a very leisurely stroll. Jack and I have been on walks together before but he always falls asleep in the Bjorn before we even get down the driveway; tonight he was awake at least to the end of our road and got to look around at the great outdoors for the first time! We can't wait till it warms up enough to have him out in the yard or take him in the stroller where he can be un-bundled and really explore his world.
I think I am finally ready to be away from Jackson. Or at least as ready as I'm ever gonna get. As most of you have heard, we've only been apart twice: once for an hour and once for less than that! And I have to go back to work full-time on the 7th! We decided to go out one night this weekend and leave him with BABYSITTERS! Yikes!!! The good news is that he'll either be with the neighbors who we bought the house from (nicest people) or our friends from work, so we know we have nothing to worry about. I'm sure it'll be a breeze for Daddy, who's been back to work for several weeks now. I will consider it a success for myself if I don't have a nervous breakdown! If I'm not too embarrassed by my reaction, I will update after our "date" later this weekend and let you know how it went. :)

Welcome to our Blog!
Welcome, friends and family! Ever since our lives were blessed with the birth of our son, I've been sending e-mails with updates and pictures; however, after viewing a friend's blog, I've decided to use this medium instead (thanks, Tonnie!). Check back here periodically to get the scoop on the Wojciechowskis!
